Organic Textile Services was founded by
Katharina Schaus (owner of "it fits - Organic Development Support" www.it-fits.de) and
Petra Schweizer-Grimsehl (owner of "QPM - quality and process management" www.qpm-consulting.de)
at the end of 2008. Both are working as experts in the organic textile industry for more than a decade.

As organizers of the well known INTERCOT (International Conference of Organic Textiles) we have been instrumental in pushing the idea of a world wide harmonized organic textile processing standard and we were significantly involved in the whole development process of GOTS.

The textile industry has already recognized GOTS very well. But for most actors there is a gap of information regarding the requirements, the quality assurance system behind, the potential/benefits with a GOTS certification, etc.
Many certified companies are complaining that there is not enough marketing, press and public relation work done to promote the label and support the certified mills. Already certified companies are facing difficulties with the correct labelling or wording in brochures or other related documents of their certified articles.

Others feel overstrained with all the questions and problems during implementation of the standard and preparation of certification. They would appreciate to have consultants who guide them through this procedure.
Presently these companies address all their questions and problems to the certification bodies. Herewith they are forced to offer consultancy and marketing that prevent them from being neutral and independent.

Due to these facts we founded Organic Textile Services.
